NHS treatment and changes to funding

NHS dentistry underwent huge changes in 2006, and unfortunately orthodontics did not escape unscathed.  The funding for orthodontic treatment has been hit hard.

Strict new guidelines, stating the categories of patient who will be eligible for NHS-funded orthodontic treatment, have been put in place.  They mean that from now on, not as many children will be offered orthodontic treatment on the NHS.

Because funding to virtually all orthodontic practices is being restricted, it also means there will be an inevitable increase in waiting lists for those who are still eligible for NHS funded treatment.

At Cotswold Orthodontics we are determined to continue to offer the best possible service to all our patients, which is why we have introduced a new level of service for children, Independent Orthodontics, as well as full private orthodontic treatment.
